Dans la mythologie Mbya, le tinamou isabelle a été le premier à se réjouir et à chanter pour célébrer l'apparition des pâturages où il trouvait refuge, nourriture et lieu de reproduction :

Dès l'apparition des champs,

La première à chanter dans les champs,

La première à célébrer son apparition,

Ce fut la perdiz colorada (perdrix rouge)

La perdiz colorada qui a chanté la première dans les prés

Est maintenant aux abords du paradis de notre Père :

Celui qui existe dans la demeure terrestre n'est que son image.
