BEHIND THE WALL

Last night I heard the screaming
Loud voices behind the wall
Another sleepless night for me
It won't do no good to call
The police
Always come late hey
If they come at all

And when they arrive
They say they can't interfere
With domestic affairs
Between a man and his wife
And as they walk out the door
The tears well up in her eyes

La nuit dernière j'ai entendu un cri
Lourdes voix derrière le mur
Une autre nuit sans sommeil pour moi
Ça ne servira à rien d'appeler
La police
Ils arrivent toujours en retard
Si ils viennent pour le moins

Et quand ils arrivent
Ils disent qu'ils ne peuvent pas se mêler
Des affaires de famille
Entre un homme et sa femme
Et dès qu'il quitte la maison
Les larmes jaillissent de ses yeux

La nuit dernière j'ai entendu un cri
Puis un silence qui a frissonné mon âme
J'ai prié pour que ce ne soit qu'un rêve
Quand j'ai vu l'ambulance dans la rue

Je suis là pour maintenir la paix
La foule se dipersera-t-elle
Je pense qu'on pourra tous dormir un peu
